This is a niche moodboard post for a curated scroll.
Coffee is one of my main expenses. It has been for a long time. And I’m ok with that. I don’t feel shame about that and you can’t really embarrass me when it comes to my coffee habits. I don’t have many, if any, other vices so I’m comfortable with this one. After all, it’s been a continuous part of media that I’ve particularly liked whilst growing up. You’ll see it in shows like Sex and The City, Friends, Will and Grace and Gilmore Girls. It appears in films like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, The Devil Wears Prada and even Breakfast at Tiffany’s. All classic favourites of mine.
Whether you’re walking with a to-go cup or sharing gossip over thick off-white ceramic cups, your coffee is an accessory to the moment. It plays a part in world building for characters both in fiction and real life. I love finding out people’s coffee order in the same way I love finding out their star sign. I’m not using it to judge a person but more to understand them and how we might connect.
Getting coffee with friends is one of my favourite pastimes. To the extent that I wish the time wouldn’t pass so that we could keep sipping coffee and spilling tea1. The following visuals are a curated scroll just for fun. And maybe a couple of context notes. A lot of these images are full of fashion moments that make me wonder why we aren’t building our outfits around our coffee runs more. Especially since it’s kind of a special occasion now that an iced latte will rob you of ~£5/$7 in broad daylight. Might as well dress for it.
A capri and an open-toe heeled mule to pick up an iced latte and pastries? Only Bella could make it work to the point that I’m googling heels for coffee runs. You will not catch me in capris though, sorry. The ship never even set sail.
Friends and coffee is always a good idea. Gossip has kept communities (especially of women) alive and intrigued for centuries. As long as my cup is full your secrets are safe with me.
Sarah Michelle Gellar and a frappuccino? No notes.
Matcha counts despite not being my drink of choice. I’ll allow it.
Couldn’t forget the queens of the to-go cup, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen - a.k.a The Row twins. They make my coffee budget look tame.
No notes!
All of the diamonds can’t deny a girl her coffee and pastry from a street cart.
Dress like your coffee order for bonus points.
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is one of my favourite series’. I even watch repeat episodes when the location - and coffee - is particularly enviable. I also do this to make up for how many of the comedians featured I actually don’t like/care for.
Special mention to the coffee and phone holds in one hand despite a free hand available. Oh, and the slippers.
The classic coffee-hold for a friend. Wide arm stance to show that both drinks are most definitely not for you, promise!
Matching coffee orders and a little colour coordination is sublime.
Reading material is always the best choice for a solo coffee date. Put your phone away. Unless that’s what you’re reading this send on right now.
Had to include the potential queen of a paparazzi’d coffee run, ms. Lily Rose Depp. Not to mention this comfy fit made chic with a vintage leather bag and sunglasses.
Let me know if you like this style of post. And as always, thanks for reading.
Lots of love x
If my mum is reading this, spilling the tea = dishing out the scandalous goss.
